Referrals

The Starfish Early Alert System

• What does your REFERRAL mean?

A referral does not necessarily mean you are failing your course! Tutoring is for everyone and the SLC is always ready to help. Referrals are sent by a professor to a student and also contain information on what you should focus on in the session.

• What do our STEM advisors do?

Our STEM advisors are part of this process and will notify you of any referrals. They will keep in constant contact with you to better assure your success at Queensborough.

• What happens after your session?

Once your session is complete your referral will then be CLOSED. Your professor will be notified of your visit, the content that was covered, and any progress you have made. REMEMBER, you don’t have to wait for a referral to stop by the center to make an appointment or see if a tutor is available.

If you have ANY questions about your referral or the Student Learning Center in general, please don’t hesitate to contact our STEM advisers at (718)-631-5126 or stop by our office in the Library Rm 116.
