Prof. Kolios and his students designed a data base for our agency that will meet the needs of 3 very diverse departments: community services, children and youth programs and services for older adults. Over a period of several semesters, he supervised teams of students to learn about our needs, design a data base and then refine it according to feedback. They then trained some of our key staff in how to use it so that they could train others. This was a tremendous contribution to our agency, as it met an essential management functions. Queens Historical Society

The Queens Historical Society researches, records and showcases issues that have had a profound impact on the history of Queens. It is the historical society for the largest borough in New York City and is dedicated to preserving the history of Queens through educational programs, exhibitions and its role as a local history research center.

In the Fall 2008 semester, QCC students wrote persuasive essays to the College and to the Queens Historical Society, urging the Society to designate QCC's Oakland Building as a Queens landmark. The Society agreed, and visitors can see the bronze Queensmark plaque near the main entrance to the Art Gallery.  Daily News, December, 23, 2008.
