QCC student Joseph Turner, a point guard on the Men’s Basketball Team, was named the CUNYAC/Con Edison Athlete of the Week for the week of January 20-26.
Joseph scored 14 points and had six assists against Kingsborough Community College in Thursday’s 79-62 loss, and on Saturday he put up 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in the Tigers’ 101-89 win over Division II's Orange County Community College.
"Turner knows how to dominate a game without just scoring,” said Clarence Emengo, Head Coach, Men’s Basketball Team, Department of Health, Physical Education & Dance. “Now that he's starting to do everything else at a high level, CUNY will get to see and appreciate a great athlete."
“Joe was unstoppable,” said Teron Simpson, Assistant Coach, who graduated from Queensborough in 2003 with an Associate in Arts degree. “What’s nice is that, when the whole team comes through, everybody shines.” Teron is currently studying Health and Physical Education at York College.
The Tigers’ season continues tomorrow at Rockland Community College. Go Tigers!
