Faculty Vacancy Announcement:

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Specific duties:  A strong commitment to teaching a broad range of traditional courses in mechanical engineering technology. Courses taught include Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Metallurgy, Machine Design, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Manufacturing Methods, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCad), Computer Numerical Control and other Computer Applications.

Additional duties include advising students, supervising student clubs, participating in college and department committee work, recruitment, faculty development activities, laboratory development, and undergraduate research and grants.  Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Continued scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion.

Highly desirable candidates will also be able to teach select courses from Computerized Architecture and Industrial Design Curriculum such as Structural Drafting, HVAC and Piping Systems.

The Engineering Technology Department maintains many modern laboratory rooms, all of which contain state-of-the-art, well maintained equipment.  Furthermore, all of the laboratory computer systems have been integrated with a state-of-the-art lecture presentation system (NETOP School) which enables the instructor to broadcast material to every computer screen, monitor each workstation, and control each individual computer system.  Smart Board projection systems are also included in all laboratories.  Additionally, a faculty development laboratory is maintained for faculty research and course development.

For Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

For Instructor:

Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. 


Commensurate with experience.
