Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps motivated community college students earn degrees as quickly as possible, with a goal of graduating at least 50% of students within three years. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, small class size, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. Financial incentives include tuition waivers for financial aid eligible students and free use of textbooks and monthly MetroCard for all students. Reporting to the ASAP Director, the ASAP Advising Manager supervises the work of the ASAP advisement team at their campus, coordinates advisement programming and other special student activities, and assists the ASAP Director in key program administrative areas.
-Supervises ASAP advisors in delivery of comprehensive support services to ASAP students
-Oversees timely entry of student enrollment and program contact tracking data into the ASAP database
-Monitors and assesses data reports on a regular basis with advisors for accuracy, to ensure movement towards ASAP success benchmarks, and to determine student support needs
-Oversees ongoing training and professional development for ASAP advisement staff
-Coordinates delivery of the ASAP Seminar, a weekly non-credit group advisement offering; including enrollment, staffing, and implementation
-Monitors, disseminates, and ensures compliance with changes in college advisement procedures and academic policies
-Supervises planning and implementation of ASAP summer programming, including summer course taking, workshops, the ASAP summer institute. and other special student activities
-Supports the Director in oversight of clerical staff
-Assists the ASAP Director with required reporting and collaboration with other college units
-Performs related duties as assigned
Campus Specific Information:
-Manages a cohort of ASAP students
-Responsible for organizing MetroCard and textbook distributions
-Oversees summer and winter registrations and interfaces with necessary College offices
-Assists ASAP staff with recruitment tasks
-Maintains student masterfile
Some evening and weekend hours may be required
A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g.,counseling, guidance, social work, or psychology) and at least four years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have:
-Strong understanding of the advisement needs of community college students
-Experience effectively managing and leading a student support team
-Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators
-Strong organization, project management, and facilitation skills
-Ability to monitor and interpret student data accurately
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office; and aptitude to learn new systems as needed
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Adaptability to change and program expansion
