General Duties:

The Vice President is responsible for one or more major College divisions and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.  He/she incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources.  He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible for personnel, budget, operations, and communications. 

Campus Specific Information:

Queensborough Community College seeks an experienced executive in pre-college, continuing education and workforce development programming with a demonstrated track record of academically successful, operationally efficient, and financially sound administration.  Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Vice President is responsible for up to eight budgets totaling $8 million consisting of grants and contracts, CUNY funded, and tuition based programs.  The Vice President has eight direct reports and is responsible for approximately 230 administrative and teaching staff.  As part of a CUNY Early College Initiative, the Vice President will be responsible to lead the establishment of a new high school, QCC and industry collaboration.  The Vice President must demonstrate visionary and results oriented leadership in delivering quality educational opportunities for youth, pre-college, and adult individuals with specific emphasis on pre-college developmental programming and workforce development, job readiness and job placement.  The Vice President upholds the mission and strategic objectives of the University and of QCC.

Expand and drive excellent outcomes for pre-college programming in the form of the CUNY Language Immersion Program, CUNY Start, College Now, Career Cluster and in grants, such as Project Prize/Liberty Partnership and the 21st Century Community Learning Center.  In addition, expand tuition and community based programming for k-12 such as the After-School Academy, Kids and Teens College, and the Chinese Academy.  Expand workforce related programming through grant funding such as the DOL CUNY CareerPATH, Perkins and CUNY's WDI, through tuition based certificate programs in healthcare, manufacturing, law, and business and other emerging sectors.  Put in place all job preparation and academic remedial programming to drive success of the student in the classroom and in the job.  Research, write, and administer grants that best serve the interests of the community in collaboration with QCC faculty and with other CUNY colleges.  Serve as Program Investigator (PI) for currently funded grants.  Expand the network of collaborators in the community including corporations, Community Based Organizations, healthcare institutions, politicians, state and city agencies, and community leaders to help support the mission of the college and the department.  Represent QCC with external constituencies in community, business and industry.  Develop and supervise staff to maximize personnel contribution, staff satisfaction, and a productive environment.  Manage the business and financial operations of the department to ensure zero deficits and also successful program/grant audits.  Perform financial analytics to measure profitability, revenue generating strategies, and cost containment.  Responsible for all marketing of programs, including web based and social media strategies, print promotions, event planning, and public affairs. 

Minimum Qualifications:

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College. 

Other Qualifications:

A proven track record of at least eight years in continuing education with a minimum of six years each in both workforce development and pre-college programming.  Eight years of demonstrated outcomes-directed experience in strategic planning, financial management, business operations, marketing, and staff management.  Must be a financial manager with experience in both expense and revenue management, cost accounting, and auditing.  A proven and documented visionary, capable of entrepreneurial thinking and implementation.  Collaborative and collegial in management style yet directive when situations require it. 


The position is within CUNY Executive Compensation Plan, offers a competitive salary (commensurate with qualifications and experience) and benefits package, including annual leave, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
