Faculty Vacancy Announcement:

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Teach introductory level courses in Theatre including: Introduction to Theatre, Stage Makeup, Costume Construction, Design and Theatre Production and Practicum.  Design costumes for all departmental productions.  Responsibilities also include supervision of backstage practicum students, student stage managers, and designers.  As Production Manager, attend all department/faculty meetings; oversee scheduling, staffing, and budgeting aspects of departmental productions.  Attend and lead all production meetings and attend all technical rehearsals, previews, and strikes.  Oversee, monitor, and evaluate design process for all shows within the season.  Oversee hiring and performance of designers and costume shop staff.  Generate and maintain records of inventory in costume shop and supervise purchasing for costume shop.  Work with Technical Director in creation of production budgets.  As designer, collaborate with faculty directors and designers as well as supervise student stage managers and running crews on departmental productions.  Night/weekend rehearsals and performances are required.  Support students in participation in The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and The United States Institute for Theatre and Technology (USITT) and work with Theatre Faculty in recruitment and advisement.  Continue scholarship and creative activities in professional theatre or pedagogical organizations as needed for tenure and promotion.

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

MFA in Theatrical Costume Design with professional experience required for appointment to Assistant Professor title.  Experience teaching Introduction to Theatre, Stage Makeup, and Costume Construction
