Description: The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) provides for the care, custody, and control of persons accused of crimes or convicted and sentenced to one year or less of jail time. The Department manages 12 inmate facilities, 9 of which are located on Rikers Island. In addition, the Department operates two hospital Prison Wards (Bellevue and Elmhurst hospitals) and court holding facilities in each borough. The DOC seeks to recruit an Executive Coordinator whose duties will include, but not limited to performing administrative duties to maintain the effective operation of the Senior Deputy Commissioner’s Office responsible for leading various Divisions: Classification and Population Management, Quality Assurance, Adult Programming, and Youthful Offender Programming. The selected candidate will: • Develop and enter all assignments, projects, and reports into tracking systems using applicable software • Accurately distribute assignments and coordinate workflow among the various Divisions to ensure efficient operations. • Follow-up with staff to ensure deadlines are met. • Coordinate and track responses ensuring that documents are clear and ready for agency-wide distribution on behalf of the Senior Deputy Commissioner; • Prepare and disseminate reports and programs and procedures in response to inquiries or as requested by the Senior Deputy Commissioner; • Inform Senior Deputy Commissioner of any sensitive inquiries, documents telephone calls and messages clearly and completely, coordinate inquiry/calls, screen incoming calls, and sets up conference calls with both internal and external stakeholders • Develop and maintain hard copies and electronic files in a standard format easily accessible to executive staff of the various Divisions. • Work closely by coordinating with Project Management Office (PMO) on projects relevant to Classification and Population Management, Quality Assurance, Adult and Youthful Offender Programming and other agency-wide projects • Perform related work.

Special Skills & Requirements 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above Preferred Skills • Ability to be proactive, flexible, resourceful, meet deadlines and perform with a high level of professionalism; • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality on all matters; • Strong writing, communication, inter-personal, and organizational skills; • Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) proficiency; • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
