Description: Disney Theatrical Group is currently seeking a passionate self-starter for a summer internship with the Theatre Operations team. The intern will develop skills within the areas of Theatre Operations, Guest Services, Employee Relations and Administration, and will be given a foundation to build upon in their pursuit of a successful career in Theatre Management. These skills include, but are not limited to, verbal and written communication, organization, time management and team development. Responsibilities The Student will be given assignments which will challenge his/her abilities and help develop skills in the following areas: Theatre Operations •Hands-on projects related to theatre inspections, vendor partnerships, union contracts, production obligations, departmental teamwork and theatre policies & procedures Guest Services •Observe and assist the Theatre Manager in the identification of guest issues/concerns, determining appropriate resolutions and providing prompt, satisfactory guest recovery •Assignments in the theatre during Aladdin Performances, Special Events and New Amsterdam Theatre Guided Tours allowing opportunities to interact directly with the theatre going public, VIPs and front of house/back of house personnel •Memorization of the guided tour script and delivery with a personal flare •Exercises in written correspondence, direct telephone communication and problem-solving Employee Relations •The intern will provide direct support to front of house staff where they will gain exposure to the roles each employee plays in the overall success of the New Amsterdam Theatre team •The importance of engaging our employees and solid teamwork will be emphasized Administration •Assisting with employee scheduling •Employee costuming distribution •Inventory and maintenance •Management of lost & found articles •Typing, copying and filing as required

Special Skills & Requirements Basic Qualifications •Prior customer service experience •Good verbal and written communication skills •Detail oriented •Willing to take on responsibility and handle a variety of tasks •Time management skills •Interest in gaining exposure to the front of house operation of a theatre •Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel •Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Communication, Business or related Additional Information Program Qualifications: •Must be at least 18 years of age •Must possess unrestricted work authorization •Must provide full work availability from May 31, 2016 through August 12, 2016 •Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work. Positions are in New York, NY. •Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program, AND returning to school for at least one semester at the completion of the internship *Please do not apply to more than TWO Disney Theatrical Group Internships
