The office of New York State Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas

Description: The office of New York State Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas is currently seeking part-time and full-time interns for the Spring and Summer of 2016. Assembly member Simotas represents the 36th Assembly District in Astoria, Queens. She is the first Greek-American woman elected to office in New York State, and the first woman elected to office from her district. Assembly member Simotas serves as the Chair of the Task Force for Women’s Issues. Assembly member Simotas, who took office on January 1st, 2011, has a long record of public service, having worked at all levels of government and served on the boards of various community organizations. She is a graduate of the New York City public school system, and received her bachelor’s and law degrees from Fordham University. Interns will take on a wide range of responsibilities, including assisting the Assembly member and her staff with policy research, constituent services, and communications. Course credit is available for those eligible.
