Development Intern

Description: The Development department is responsible for the fundraising efforts for the organization. There are many fundraising initiatives-working with corporations and foundations, generating donated goods and services (in-kind), developing cause-related marketing campaigns, generating funds for our endowment, raising money in the schools and in the workplace, as well as our internal and external events. • Gather and research data for grant prospects and proposals • Write, edit, and collaborate with development coordinator on grant proposals • Work with development coordinator to acknowledge donors through thank you letters, phone calls, etc. • Research major gifts prospects • Input major gifts prospects/donor info into Raiser’s Edge database • Assist with major fundraising campaigns • Assist with all areas related to the major events produced by the organization • Help to manage/coordinate volunteers for events • Perform clerical functions such as filing, typing, data entry and copying using office equipment • Special projects and other duties as assigned Time Frame: Fall/Winter, Winter/Spring, Summer Semesters Time Commitment: Minimum – 2 days a week during business hours (Monday – Friday/9am – 5pm)

Special Skills & Requirements Education and Experience for all positions: Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer literate with working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry, the internet-Adobe knowledge a plus. Good organizational skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
