Summer Brigade

Description: Summer Brigade is paid educational program for talented people passionate about social and economic justice. The program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring organizers to learn about the labor movement and learn the basics of how to organize low-wage workers to take action and win change. The program offers hands-on organizing experience through campaign field work combined with weekly labor history classes and skill building workshops. Participants in the program can expect experiences like: conversations with low-wage workers at home and at work about the power of a union; experience identifying workplace leaders; learning how to map a workplace; mobilizing workers to take action; supporting and planning protests, demonstrations and actions. Summer Brigade positions are available in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Florida, Philadelphia and the Washington DC area. Strengthen your skills for campaigns on and off campus Summer Brigade is a 2 month program. It runs from June 6-August 5. Participants are required to participate in the whole program. Participants are provided with $500 per week stipend and a travel allowance.
