“How can I tell my children about the importance of earning a college degree when I haven’t one myself,” says returning student Gregg Rosentstein.
When Gregg Rosenstein graduated from Queensborough Community College on June 1, 2007, he had earned both the President’s Award for graduating with the highest scholastic average, and the Colonel John C. Lackas Award that is presented to the outstanding graduating student in the Associate in Applied Science degree program.
With five semesters completed at New York University after graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1986, Gregg worked as a technical support manager and data base administrator. In 2003, he returned to college wanting to expand his opportunities. “How can I tell my children about the importance of earning a college degree when I haven’t one myself,” Gregg explains. After his wife entered the nursing program at Queensborough, Gregg enrolled in the Computer Information System program and graduated with a 4.0 G.P.A.
Gregg now holds a new position as a senior technical trainer. He and his wife, who received her nursing degree from Queensborough in 2006, recently moved to Hicksville, Long Island, with their two year old son. Gregg plans to pursue his bachelor’s degree in statistics, and aspires to utilize his entrepreneurial spirit and interest in business planning to become a sole proprietor one day.
