Bus Assistant

Description: • Bus Assistants are responsible for protective oversight of participants placed in their care from the time they are picked up from their home to the time they are dropped off to their home, and for facilitating their active engagement in session activities. • Ensures that all participants are wearing seat belts when vehicle is in motion. • Reports any unusual behavior or sign of illness to supervisor. • Becomes familiar with bus route so substitute drivers can be assisted with directions. • Provides assistance to consumers getting on and off bus and to and from door as needed. • Provides oversight and facilitates socialization during bus rides. • Provides group member coverage at all times unless otherwise authorized by supervisor. • Familiarizes self with care needs of group members, toileting, socialization, communication, dietary restrictions, and behavioral concerns and offers assistance appropriate to maximizing individual’s ability to participate in group sessions as independently as possible. • Promotes group enthusiasm and helps create supportive atmosphere for active participation and socialization. • Represents HeartShare is a professional manner.
