Loan Review Officer

Description: The Loan Review Officer is responsible for conducting loan review analysis of the Bank’s commercial real estate loans, residential real estate loans and business loans. The individual will be responsible for 1) evaluating compliance with regulatory guidelines and Bank’s policies regarding loan underwriting, loan approval process and risk management of loans in the reviewed portfolios, and 2) assessing the condition and quality of individual loan credits based on financial, collateral and documentation analysis and determining the appropriate risk rating on accounts according to regulatory grading criteria. The Loan Review Officer reports to the Chief Loan Review Officer. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Evaluates the condition and quality of individual credits based on financial, collateral and documentation analysis and assigning the appropriate loan grade on the account according to regulatory grading criteria •Evaluates compliance with the Loan Approval Process as required in the Bank’s Lending Policy •Evaluates compliance with Loan Underwriting requirements as required in the Bank’s Lending Policy •Evaluates compliance with proper Credit Administration of the account •Documents reviews and conclusions regarding findings and preparation of the Loan Review Report •Interacts with lending officers, credit administration, portfolio management and other bank employees in the process of reviewing the portfolio •Responds to requests for special analysis and projects as required by Management and the Board of Directors •Performs scheduled reviews of specific loans held for follow-up and reexamination and makes recommendations for appropriate actions •Evaluates the adequacy of the Bank’s Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss reserve

Special Skills & Requirements MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor's degree with business emphasis in a related field •7-10 years previous commercial lending, loan review, regulatory examination, and/or credit administration experience •Ability to negotiate effectively •Knowledge of accounting procedures, business law, bankruptcy code, banking laws, and legal/regulatory •Ability to travel within Queens, Manhattan and Nassau County KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: •Experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint •Excellent interpersonal skills •Critical thinking and analytical skills •Strong written and verbal communication skills •Effectively works independently •Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards governing the credit function of the Bank
