Training
- faculty development workshops in pedagogical methods that support OAA/QCC instructional initiatives
- training and opportunity for faculty leadership in QCC/CUNY initiatives
- consultation with individual or group faculty members on creating learning outcomes that support Pathways objectives and outcomes
- design of instructional tools/activities related to CETL’s as well as QCC’s high impact practices/ initiatives
- consultation with individual or group faculty members on pedagogical research which includes suggesting topics/projects; designing studies; identifying assessment methods; writing results; submitting and/or revising work for publication
- assessment modeling and mentoring for faculty
- mentoring for other CTLs
Resources and Outreach
- a computer lab and learning environment that supports faculty’s independent scholarly and/or instructional development and fosters collegial collaboration and service
- grants for pedagogical research – which includes creating CFPs, training faculty for responding to the CFPs, identifying and coordinating review committee for CFPs, awarding grants, coordinating faculty presentations of completed grant projects, facilitating faculty publication of grant projects/results
- promotion of QCC’s visibility in CUNY initiatives and national organizations
- a website which collects and disseminates information crucial to faculty effectiveness: lists of faculty development opportunities (lists of on-campus teaching initiatives, of grant, conference, and academic journals’ RFPs; on-line and hard copy resources such as lists of journals dedicated to SoTL
- an inventory of resources (books, technology, software, journals) to support faculty’s scholarly work related to pedagogy
- outreach to various QCC offices in order to
- provide faculty with most current info regarding funding opportunities, instructional technology resources, and faculty development opportunities
- “feed” interested and eligible faculty into institutes/initiatives sponsored by other offices
Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting
- data for QCC year-end reports regarding faculty’s pedagogical and scholarly work
- coordination and announcements of QCC faculty development efforts in order to supplement (rather than duplicate) other offices’ offerings and make faculty aware of various development opportunities
- documentation of the methods, processes, and institutionalization of QCC high impact initiatives
- personal outreach to faculty involved in QCC teaching/research initiatives
