Men's Basketball: Queensborough vs. Nassau CC (1/31/12)

Date: January 31st, 2012
Duration: 1h:27m:28s

Queensborough had no answer for Nassau point guard Joshua Rosa, as the Lions pummelled the Tigers 96-68. Rosa scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half to go along with eight assists, seven rebounds and five steals.

The Tigers came out strong for Gamal Steele, who handled the coaching duties for Larry Dantzler, who was under the weather. A back and forth game saw the Tigers go ahead 29-28 on Alan Smith’s basket with 4:43 left in the half, before the Lions went on a 14-2 run to end the half. What many considered the turning point were back to back three-pointers from Malcolm Moore and Timothy Johnson which increased Nassau’s lead from one to seven. Even thought the teams played tightly for most of the half, the Lions led at halftime 42-31.

The closest the Tigers would get the rest of the game was five, as Nassau never relinquished the lead. Over the last eight minutes, the Lions scored 25 points, including a 10-0 run in the final two minutes, to make the final score 96-68.
