New York City Councilmember Linda Lee Presented Queensborough Community College with a Proclamation for Raising the Power of Awareness During the 2022 Disability Voting Rights Week, September 12-16
New York City Councilmember Linda Lee presented Queensborough Community College with a proclamation recognizing “Queensborough’s amazing work in raising awareness among the College’s disabled voters so they are ready to vote and have access to the ballot.”
Speaking to members of the College community, Dr. Mangino said, “It’s an honor to welcome Councilmember Lee back to campus! Like Queensborough, she recognizes the challenges people with disabilities face and how important it is to provide an inclusive, supportive environment for them so that they have an active voice in this basic democratic process.”
Services for Students with Disabilities Director, Ben-Ami Freier commented that, “We have voter registration application forms and information available so that students will be offered the opportunity to register to vote on the spot.”
Queensborough student Leonard Blades, added, “I am excited we all came together for this event and this purpose. The right to vote is so important and so are all the things we benefit from here. It’s wonderful.”
Queensborough is committed to providing opportunity and access to individuals with disabilities in all programs offered by the College.
