I am an Associate Professor in the Biology Department. My research focuses on the cellular mechanisms involved in breast cancer cell migration. Cancer research has advanced tremendously but unanswered questions remain. The goals of our research projects are to understand how and why cancer cells move or metastasize with the long term goal of uncovering novel therapeutic targets. We have taken an interdisciplinary approach to designing experiments. This has led to productive collaborations with faculty in the QCC Physics and Chemistry Departments as well as with my colleagues in the Biology department. My greatest professional joy is mentoring QCC research students. To date I have mentored over 75 students, several have gone on to earn PhDs and other advanced degrees in science and health fields. I look forward to mentoring current and future QCC research students. Hopefully these students will choose a biomedical related career and contribute to diversification of the future research workforce.
