    For the first time this season, Matthews takes player honors. Matthews led the Tigers to a 1-1 mark last week. The sophomore guard averaged 24.5 points, six boards, and five assists in the two games.

    For the first time this season, Beards takes rookie nods for the Tigers. Against Rockland, the Rosedale native scored 21 points a career-high, adding six boards, four assists, and three steals to close her stat line. For the week, the product from Bayside High School tallied 18 rebounds, two blocked shots, and four assists.

    Blair led the Tigers to a 2-1 mark last week (11-6), including a win against con-ference rival Kingsborough (3-3 CUNYAC). For the week, the sophomore guard averaged a double-double with 27 points and 13 boards.

    For the third time in as many weeks, Georgia Alexiou takes Player of the Week honors. In the Tiger’s lone game against CUNYAC foe Bronx, Alexiou dominated the game leading Queensborough to a conference win.

    Georgia Alexiou wins Player of the Week. In a dominant performance against conference foe Bronx CC, Alexiou led the Lady Tigers to their first win of the season. Bianca Brierre wins Rookie of the Week. Tying a career high in both points and rebounds, Brierre earns her first Rookie of the Week nod of the basketball season.

Athletics Department Mission Statement

The Queensborough Community College intercollegiate athletics department promotes student-athlete success by integrating academics and athletics into the student-athlete's overall college experience. We are committed to offering programs and opportunities that enhance the college experience, by promoting sportsmanship, commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and equitable opportunity for all of our student-athletes, while supporting the mission of the College.

Athletics Department Objectives

  • To develop and maintain programs that benefit the student-athlete both academically and athletically.
  • Employ coaches and staff that are knowledgeable and professional, that provide a high level of integrity, while conducting themselves in an ethical and sportsmanlike manner.
  • Strive for gender equity by providing equitable opportunities for both men and women. By developing and sustaining programs that help all student-athletes achieve their maximum potential, both academically and athletically.
  • Offer the appropriate academic advisement and support to all student-athletes.
  • Retain and graduate student-athletes, that at a minimum, reflect that of the Queensbororugh Community College student body as a whole.
  • Operate athletic programs at a high standard of honor, with a commitment to institutional integrity, academic achievement, and athletic competitiveness.
