The Current State of Online Instruction at QCC

Chair: Anthony Kolios

Presentation by Philip Pecorino

Mission Statements

QCC needs to develop a plan as to what direction to move with regard to distance education and in particular the fully online offerings.  The Academic Senate Committee on Distance Education will be working on this and have some proposals for consideration of the community fairly soon.  There are at least two mission statements that are needed that would assist in providing the answers to the questions below.

Partially Online Classes

1. What does the College expect from its partially online offerings?

2. What part of the mission of the College would be served by offering partially online classes?

3. Should the College target potential groups of learners for partially online classes?

4. What Resources should be directed toward the support of effective partially online classes?

5. What evidence indicates that there is effective instruction and learning in partially online classes?

Fully Online Classes

1. What does the College expect from its Fully Online Class offerings?

2. What part of the mission of the College would be served by offering Fully Online Classes?

3. Should the College target potential groups of learners for Fully Online Classes?

4. What Resources should be directed toward the support of effective Fully Online Classes?
