Faculty Support

Faculty Training

At the current time there are a variety of faculty training programs in online instruction and in effective pedagogies that are offered on many, if not all, CUNY campuses.  With the dedication of an adequate amount of resources and personnel the central CUNY Online BA program should have the following in place rather quickly with continual review and development of all of these items:

  • Training in the Course Management Program
  • Development of Learning Objects including multimedia materials
  • Instructional Design for Courses
  • Class Management Techniques, Advice
  • Assessment of Learners
  • Assessment of pedagogy and instructional Design
  • Ongoing review and assessment and efforts at continual improvement in the efficacy of instruction.

Faculty Resources

  • Online Manual on Online Instruction
  • Online Manual on Pedagogy -best practices
  • Online resources for faculty that are discipline related

Faculty Development Program

with someone serving as its director and included as parts of that program would be at least the following:

  • Observations of teaching by experienced online instructors
  • Ongoing review and assessment of instructional design by experienced online instructors
  • Support for efforts at continual improvement in the efficacy of instruction
  • Faculty Mentors (experienced online instructors)
  • Faculty Instructional Partnerships- teaming up for peer review and assistance
  • Instruction in software/hardware
  • Information on online resources, esp. learning objects
