Take It From Us: May 2026
Meet Soon-to-be-Graduate, Camille Mangroo, Business Administration, Member, QCC’s Male Resource Center (MRC)
While services offered at the MRC are designed to address systematic barriers that often prevent self-identified Black and Latino males from reaching degree completion, the MRC also welcomes all Queensborough students, faculty, and staff without regard to race, gender, national origin, and other characteristics.
This was great news to Camille, who shared that her experience as a member of the MRC, and her experience at QCC in general, has been “amazing”.
“I had to work [full-time] after high school and didn’t have the opportunity to go to college. Enrolling at QCC as a non-traditional student after many years out of school was something I wanted to do for myself, and as a parent, I want to be an inspiration to my son. I couldn’t have chosen a better college.”
Camille will graduate from Queensborough this spring with an associate in science (A.S.) degree in Business Administration and will continue her studies at Baruch College where she will pursue her Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Human Resource Management.
Meet Soon-to-be-Graduate, Jake Jacobo, Nursing
"It’s exciting to think that in just a few short weeks, I will be graduating from the nursing program!"
"It’s been an incredible experience participating in lab sessions located in the Virtual Hospital where we worked with medical mannequins to simulate real-world patient care. My internship opportunities have been so important. Last summer I shadowed a critical care nurse in the “gastric mixed tumor / colorectal unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan. This externship will be invaluable as I aspire to work in an intensive care unit once I graduate and pass my boards."
Jake will receive his associate of applied science (A.A.S.) Degree in Nursing at Queensborough’s 65th Commencement Ceremony on May 29. He plans to take the NCLEX nursing licensure exam and then pursue his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing beginning in fall 2026. After gaining experience working as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse, Jake aspires to earn his doctorate in nurse anesthesia.
"I still have a long road ahead of me, but thanks to all the support queensborough has given me, I know my journey is one I can successfully see to its end.”
Meet Soon-to-be-Graduate Tadiwanashe Natasha Mushonga, Business Management & Marketing, Member, QCC’s Male Resource Center (MRC)
“My peer advisor at the MRC was always there to help me navigate challenges and steer me toward great resources like The Vault which offers students like me access to professional clothes for interviews and certain events.” Tadiwanashe, a full-time student at QCC since 2023, will graduate from Queensborough this spring with an associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree in Business Management. She plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree at a CUNY senior college.

Yogeeta will graduate from QCC this spring with an associate in science (A.S.) degree in Psychology and plans to transfer to Queens College to major in Early Childhood Education.
