Dr. Jillian Bovary, Physics Department, on Steven Hawking’s death:

Published: March 14, 2018

“I’m very saddened by Steven Hawking’s death. Not since Einstein has anyone had such a clear understanding of how black holes work, along with the skill to communicate it to the public.  I read his book “A Brief History of Time” when I was in college and it helped motivate me to study black holes.  His perspective and voice were rare gems and will be greatly missed.”
