How the Honors Program Has Elevated my Hope for Success

My experience in the Honors Program has far exceeded my expectations while taking General Chemistry I under Dr. Paris Svoronos Our professors encouraged and nurtured a community classroom environment among the students, instead of a competitive one. This allowed bonds to form and soon we have invested in our colleagues’ success as well as our own. Though the course is tough and at times the stress can be overwhelming, the encouragement and support of not only the professors but fellow class mates is unlike any I have encountered before. Since joining the Honors Program I have been afforded opportunities that I had never had before. Conducting research under Dr. Svoronos allowed me to attend national science conferences as well as invited lectures and seminars. The Honors Program not only provided me with the knowledge, but also the encouragement and confidence in myself to pursue what I had once considered impossible. It is not just a class with an accreditation, it is a door way to untold possibility.
