Steering Committee November 2025
The Steering Committee is in the process of reviewing published Standing Committee Annual Reports in order to provide supportive feedback for the remainder of the 2025-2026 academic year to current Standing Committee members. As of November 4, there are 5 Standing Committees who have yet to publish Annual Reports from AY 2024-2025. Please note that the deadline for submitting 2024-2025 Annual Reports was May 2025. This deadline was set so that the Steering Committee could review reports and provide feedback by the start of the Fall semester. In cases when Annual Reports are submitted after the start of the Fall semester, it delays the Steering Committee's efforts to provide such feedback. However, the Steering Committee remains available to assist Standing Committees on a variety of matters throughout the academic year. Standing Committees should not hesitate to contact us via email for support as they engage in their vital work as committees of the Academic Senate.
The Steering Committee is preparing a survey to be shared with Standing Committee members in the Spring 2026 semester. The survey will cover a variety of topics related to committee members' ability to complete work within their respective committees, including feasibility of carrying out committee charges and the level of support received from the Academic Senate in doing so. This survey will be an important opportunity for Standing Committees to articulate these aspects of their committee experiences. The Steering Committee will provide reminders to committee members via email once the survey availability dates have been determined.
The Steering Committee would like to recognize the efforts of the Curriculum Committee in navigating through the CourseDog platform, and for remaining in close contact with the Steering Committee on a variety of topics related to their CourseDog experience. Their consistent communication will ultimately ensure that curriculum proposals are considered in a timely and transparent manner as we continue to acclimate to using the CourseDog platform.
The Steering Committee would like to recognize the efforts of the Committee on Committees in two areas. First, the CoC is already preparing for their significant work in Spring 2026 to conduct Senate elections using the Big Pulse platform. The level of organization of the CoC's efforts speak to its members' commitment to running efficient and transparent elections, and we thank them for their efforts. Second, the CoC's efforts to assist and support Standing Committees has been ongoing, particularly in the area of facilitating productive Standing Committee meetings.
As a reminder, the December Senate meeting will be the last opportunity to present curriculum proposals that may appear in the Fall 2026 course catalog if passed by the Academic Senate. The last date to submit curriculum changes to the Curriculum Committee is 11/18/25 so that they may be considered at their 11/25/25 meeting.
