Steering Committee May 2026
The Steering Committee would like to welcome new Senators who have officially begun their 3-year terms, and to thank outgoing Senators for their efforts in helping to maintain the Academic Senate as a transparent and efficient shared governance body. Our collaborative work makes a positive impact on our college community! Please note that while we encourage outgoing Senators to attend the May meeting, only those Senators with terms continuing into Fall 2026 will be counted for attendance and voting on actionable items, including new Senators whose terms begin at the May meeting.
We would also like to congratulate our upcoming May 2026 graduation candidates. We encourage everyone to please show your support for the graduating class of 2026 by attending the Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 29 at 10am on the Athletic Field.
During the May Academic Senate meeting elections will be held for two positions within the Committee on Committees and three positions within the Steering Committee. Only those faculty members currently serving as Senators as of the May meeting are eligible to serve in those roles. Candidates will be nominated from the Senate floor and voting will take place immediately afterward. We highly encourage faculty members seeking nomination to inform their department chairperson, as serving in these roles can potentially affect teaching hours.
We would like to remind Standing Committees that elections for officers, which must include exactly one Chair and one Secretary per committee, must take place in May prior to May 29 (day of commencement). Please update your Standing Committee's website to reflect your new roster and chair roles immediately after your elections. Committee Annual Reports must also be posted on your websites by this date to ensure the Steering Committee's ability to review and provide actionable support for the Fall 2026 semester. Committee Annual Reports will also be listed as informational items in the September 2026 Academic Senate Meeting.
We want to thank all members of the Academic Senate and all supporting personnel for your hard work this academic year. We hope you have a positive end of the semester and look forward to our future collaborations in AY 2026-27.
