Steering Committee December 2025
As the December Academic Senate meeting approaches, the Steering Committee would like to acknowledge the efforts of members of the Academic Senate and Standing Committees for their continued work. Our collective efforts are vital in maintaining efficiency and transparency as we navigate a variety of issues in shared governance that affect all members of our QCC community. The Steering Committee would also like to acknowledge the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, OAA, and the administrative Designees and Liaisons collaborating within the Academic Senate and on Standing Committees who continue to support the ideals of shared governance.
The Steering Committee will propose two policy considerations at the December Senate. One is a proposed amendment to the Meeting Hours policy adopted at the November 2025 Senate, and the other is a proposal that revisits an important conversation about Artificial Intelligence and collegiate instruction originally discussed at the Academic Senate in December 2023.
The Steering Committee will conduct its survey of Standing Committee member experiences in February 2026. This plan ensures ample time for committee members to participate in the survey while avoiding overlap with Senate and Standing Committee election efforts. The results of this survey will be shared with the QCC community and will be submitted toward QCC’s Middle States self-study efforts.
As Senate elections and Standing Committee assignments are determined during the Spring semester, we kindly ask all current Senators and Standing Committee members to please check your term ending dates, and please reach out to the Steering Committee or Committee on Committees for assistance if needed. For any faculty considering nomination for a Senator position or interested in serving on a Standing Committee, please reach out to us and we will be happy to provide any support needed. Email reminders will be sent to faculty in the Spring 2026 semester outlining eligibility for any available service roles. Additionally, we ask those faculty members with experience serving in Senate and Standing Committee roles to please encourage your colleagues to volunteer for service roles.
