Mental Health First Aid
The Counseling Center would like to invite you to register yourself or a designated staff member for the Mental Health First Aid Training, which is scheduled on Wednesday, 02/25/2026 at the Student Union (SUL) from 9am to 5pm.
Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) is offered via the Counseling Center, as part of a JED campus initiative that serves to raise mental health awareness amongst faculty and staff. MHFA is offered to faculty and staff who are not mental health clinicians. The purpose of this training is to prepare faculty and staff to use student-centric language which will allow them to communicate with students who may be experiencing a difficult emotional/mental health situation. This Counseling Center event is a full-day workshop that will be provided by Mental Health Trainers (Rachel Priest and Malika Watson) who are affiliated with the Mental Health Association of Nassau County. At the end of the training, a certificate will be provided. Since this is a day-long training, we are providing continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
