Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning--Level 2
This Level 2 course builds on the foundations from Level 1 and takes students deeper into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Over 8 fun and challenging sessions, students will learn how computers make predictions, how text-generation models work, how AI can read and classify information, and how modern systems use RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) to answer real-world questions.
Students will work with Scratch, MachineLearningForKids, and (new this level) KNIME Analytics Platform, a visual programming tool used by real data analysts. Every class includes a hands-on guided activity and finishes with a 30-minute project studio, where students create their own mini-projects.
By the end of the course, students will build:
· A Storytelling AI that writes creative stories OR A Newspaper Headline Classifier that recognizes writing style
· A RAG-powered Scratch project that uses live Wikipedia data to answer questions
· A simple prediction model built in KNIME (e.g., predicting fruit types)
No prior coding beyond Level 1 is required. Students only need a laptop or Chromebook capable of running KNIME.
Will be offered in the spring 2027.
