Lost Dog New Music Ensemble presents a concert of contemporary works by some of today’s leading composers, including George Crumb’s ritualistic Idyll for the Misbegotten (featuring QCC faculty Neeraj Mehta), Jeffrey Mumford’s light-filled undiluted days, Bright Sheng’s spicy duet Hot Pepper, Kaija Saariaho’s delicate, mysterious Cendres, and closing with a recent work by the young Queens-based composer & DJ Gilbert Galindo, Perpetual Drive.
These five works showcase the diversity of contemporary styles and composers, including pop-based music drawing on EDM, music inspired by folk tunes and ancient ritual drumming, and avant-garde work filtered through a prism of crystalline harmonies.
