Graduated in Geography and History at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, Mr. Fernandez-Cid, has been teaching Art Criticism, Aesthetics and 20th Century Art at the Fine Arts Schools of Salamanca and Pontevedra (Spain). After having worked as a redactor-in-chief for the Buades art newspaper, and as an art critic for Diario 16 and ABCnewspapers, in 1995 he founded Arte y Parte: a bimonthly art magazine edited and managed by him until 1998. In 1996 he was elected a member of the IVAM Board of Trustees, remaining in it until 2000. He was the responsible for the Spanish presence in the São Paulo Biennial of 1989, and the curator of some exhibitions, for instance Artistas en Madrid años 80, the latest editions of Salón de los 16 and Una mirada tensa. Furthermore, he was the director of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea (CGAC) from April 1998 to September 2005, curating exhibitions on Giuseppe Penone, Jürgen Partenheimer, Rafael Baixeras, Francisco Leiro, Rebecca Horn, Georges Rousse, Stephan Balkenhol, Salvador Cidrás, Marine Hugonnier, Darío Villalba, Manuel Moldes, Vicente Blanco, Vik Muniz, Karin Sander and Peter Wüthrich.
