Sports Events Planner
Overview: | Sporting event planners are business professionals who administer and manage the operations of sports businesses and programs. They plan and coordinate the marketing and sales of sports events' tickets, coordinate public relations and media communication, and organize special events. |

Duties: | They work in a variety of settings, such as management of sports facilities, marketing and administration of athletic programs in professional and college sports, and in recreational facilities. They plan and manage the pricing and sale of tickets for athletic events, establish ticket inventories, control and provide summaries of ticket sales reports and manage financial proceeds. Plan and coordinate advertising and promotion of sports events. Promote sport events on the Internet. Organize press releases for local and national radio/TV broadcasting and publications. They plan the design and marketing of team sport apparel products on a local and national basis. Coordinate the fashion design, advertising and marketing channels for sales of these products. |

Additional Training/Education: | A bachelor's degree in sports management or a formal curriculum consisting of business administration, physical education and marketing is the ideal preparation for this occupation. Courses in communications, computer applications, business law, marketing and sports management are essential. A college internship will enhance your employment potential. |
