Industrial-Organizational Psychologist
Overview: | Industrial-organizational psychologists conduct studies to assess organization's human resource management programs, management practices and design of jobs. They design programs to enhance employee motivation, productivity and quality of work. They conduct studies to improve training and development of employees. |

Duties: | They design and conduct employee opinion surveys to measure employees' perceptions of the quality of their jobs, management leadership styles, performance appraisal and reward systems. They conduct experiments to identify which work methods, management practices and team-building techniques result in the optimum productivity and quality of work. They design employee job skills training and career development planning programs to assure organizations can promote from within. Design methods to evaluate potential managers. They recommend to executives how organizational structure, goal setting methods and decision making processes should be designed to enable the company to adapt to changing business conditions. |
