Students entering Queensborough Community College should contact Ms. Guelke at the Registrars Office and present:
a) Discharge papers; DD214 Forms
b) Military ID if student is on active duty or is in the reserves

GI Bill forms (form 22-1990) can be obtained at the Registrars Office or on line at: http://www.gibill.va.gov
If you need help with your VA education benefits you can call 1-888-442-4551.

Students need to obtain verification forms at the Registrars Office which professors have to sign throughout the semester.  The forms are later returned to the Registrars Office.  Students also have to call a VA verification number at the end of each month to obtain benefits:

Upon receipt, payment at the Bursar…

After registering for classes, students can obtain a promissory note, also called a deferment note from the Counseling Department.  Students need to bring this form to the Bursars Office.  It prevents a student's classes from being dropped while he or she is waiting for their educational assistance.  Upon receipt, payment at the Bursars Office is expected. 

The veteran group meets on Wednesdays at 1 PM during Club Hours. The purpose of this group is to provide a forum for the exchange of information between veterans regarding educational assistance, health benefits, disability issues, etc.   Members also receive emotional support from fellow veterans which facilitates readjustment back into civilian life.

Veterans Center

The Veterans Center is expected to open in January 2008 and will be the hub of veteran services at QCC.  The location will be in the lower lobby of the Student Union Building.  Counseling staff and student veterans will be available to answer questions from other veterans and their family members regarding educational assistance, health benefits, etc.
