The Lady Tigers looked good, leading 36-30 with under 13 minutes to play against the Lady Hawks, before Rockland ended the game on a whopping 36-9 run. Rockland went on an astounding 21-2 run in less than five minutes, and after Queensborough scored seven points in a row, Rockland scored the final 15 points of the game, as QCC went scoreless for the final five and a half minutes.

The turnover-ridden Lady Tigers led 32-26 at halftime, before succumbing to Rockland’s pressure defense. When Ann Marie Johnson’s basket gave Queensborough a six-point lead, Rockland stepped up the urgency. Rockland’s Stephanie Burke tied the game at 38 with a three-pointer with 11:20 to play. Katie Sovak then put Rockland ahead with a three-pointer of her own. The 41-38 lead was the Lady Hawks’ first since the first half, and they would not give it up for the final ten and a half minutes.

Things only got worse for QCC, as Samantha Gabriel hit a basket and was fouled, extending the lead to six with under 10 minutes to play. An immediate turnover and another two points for Stephanie Burke made it 46-38 six seconds later, and Melissa Loughhane added another two only eleven seconds later. With 8:09 to go, Burke made it 51-38 and it looked like QCC was done, before cutting it to 51-45.

Rockland stunned QCC by scoring the final 15 points, and overall outscored the Lady Tigers 40-13 in the second half.
