The Evolution of Digital Circuits with professor Edward Brumgnach (Trailer)
Wednesday, March 25, 2009
01m:48s | 1357 views

Professor Brumgnach tracks the evolution of digital logic electronic circuitry from the use of electromechanical relays through discreet solid state components, small scale, medium scale and large scale integration, to the present state of the art FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays). The presentation includes an exhibition of hardware showing how a BCD to seven segment decoder would have been implemented by using single pole double through relays (1930s), TTL small scale integrated circuits (1970s), TTL medium scale integration (1980s), and today’ state of the art FPGAs.
