A brilliant, sunny morning matched a joyous atmosphere as the Class of 2013—representing more than 8o nationalities—gathered for Queensborough Community College’s 52nd annual Commencement ceremony on May 31.
The occasion marked the official inauguration of Dr. Diane B. Call, who was appointed President of Queensborough Community College by the CUNY Board of Trustees on January 28, 2013. Dr. Call is the College’s first woman president.
“You all look amazing!” exclaimed Dr. Call to a roar of approval by the Class of 2013, comprising more than 2,000 graduates. “Each of you has a personal story of determination that has led to this momentous juncture in your lives. As graduates, you leave here with the knowledge, friendship and values that will serve you well in the years to come.”
Allan H. Dobrin, Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer of the City University of New York, presided over the installation of Dr. Call during the ceremony before more than 2,000 graduates, distinguished faculty, administrators, elected officials, and honored guests.
