We Won! Tigers claw back to win 2018 CUNYAC/MCU Community College Baseball Championship

#2 Queensborough Community College, down 4-0 heading into the 8th inning, fought back to defeat #1 Bronx Community College 6-4 in 11 innings at MCU Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Go Tigers!

Clinched!

With a 7-2 victory over Kingsborough CC yesterday, the Queensborough Tigers baseball team has officially clinched their spot in the CUNYAC Championship Game, which will take place on Monday, May 7th at 7pm at MCU Park, home of New York Mets minor league affiliate, the Brooklyn Cyclones.

On Saturday, freshman Ryan Sandberg threw a no-hitter against 6th ranked Suffolk CC. He struck out 12 in the 7-inning, complete game no-no.

    The City University of New York Athletic Conference and MCU revealed their 2018 Community College Baseball All-Stars, as determined by a vote of the league's head coaches. It was nearly a clean sweep for Queensborough, which earned a thrilling 6-4 come-from-behind 11-inning win over Bronx in the CUNYAC Championship.

    Queensborough's Ryan Sandberg is NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season in baseball. He threw a no-hitter against #6 Suffolk CC on Saturday, that included 12 K's.

    Joelle Desrosiers named national finalist for the 2018 NATYCAA Female Scholar-Athlete Award. The male and female Scholar-Athlete Award winners will be formally recognized at NATYCAA’s Annual Convention, which will take place June 27-29 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

    Ryan Sandberg tossed his first collegiate no-hitter in a 1-0 win against sixth-ranked Suffolk Community College in the opening game of a twinbill on Saturday. He struck out 12 batters in 7.0 innings of work for the Tigers.

    Nicholas DiLorenzo went off for a .400 batting clip in a four-game sweep of league foe BMCC last week. Ryan Sandberg toed the rubber to the tune of 17 strikeouts Saturday in a 7-2 win against BMCC.

Salihoun Toure, Athlete of the Month for January 2018

Salihoun Toure is the the Queensborough Student Athlete of the Month for January. In the seven games for the month, he has averaged 9.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. The duel sport student athlete has been a big part of the Tiger's success. His hard work and rebounding talents hope to help the Tigers make a deep post season run as they get ready for the CUNYAC and Region XV Tournament.

Female Athlete of the Month

Revah Ward, Athlete of the Month for January 2018

Revah Ward is the Queensborough Student Athlete of the Month for January. The sophomore guard has led the team in scoring and averaged 18.4 points in the month. Her standout performance was against Nassau CC, where she recorded 27 points, including going 6 for 9 for three pointers. She also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists during the game. Revah will look to continue her scoring runs as the team gets ready for the CUNYAC and Region XV Tournament.
