Ryan Sandberg, NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American

Ryan Sandberg, who was twice named NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week this season, has been named an NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American. This season, Ryan finished in the top 5 nationally in numerous categories, including 1st in the nation in shutouts (2), 1st in strikeouts per game (17.61), 2nd in earned run average (1.37), 5th in complete games (5), and 5th in total strikeouts (90).

On Wednesday, Queensborough Community College freshman pitcher Ryan Sandberg was named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April 2018.

Sandberg, a Liberal Arts major from Island Park, has a 3.6 GPA. He posted a 3-0 record in April with 38 strikeouts and an unblemished 0.00 ERA, capped off by a no-hitter against then-No. 6 Suffolk Community College on April 28.

2018 CUNYAC/MCU Community College Baseball All-Stars Announced

The City University of New York Athletic Conference and MCU revealed their 2018 Community College Baseball All-Stars, as determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.

It was nearly a clean sweep for Queensborough, which earned a thrilling 6-4 come-from-behind 11-inning win over Bronx in Monday's CUNYAC Championship.

Freshmen Nicholas DiLorenzo, Ryan Sandberg and Elvis Torres were individually named the CUNYAC Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Year.

Player of the Year - Nicholas DiLorenzo, Fr, 1B/IF, Queensborough
In his collegiate debut, DiLorenzo has led the Tigers in nearly offensive category. He is batting .377 this year with 10 homers and 36 RBIs, and has struck out only 14 times. Additionally, DiLorenzo has scored 39 runs and drawn 23 walks, in addition to carrying a .745 slugging and .485 on-base percentage.

Pitcher of the Year - Ryan Sandberg, Fr, Queensborough
Sandberg, a two-time NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week, has bursted onto the scene in his debut season, compiling a 5-0 mark with a 1.37 earned-run average and 90 strikeouts. He has tossed five complete games, and let up just seven earned runs in 46.0 innings pitched, as well.

Sandberg, who has six starts of allowing three hits or fewer, pitched his first collegiate no-hitter on Apr. 28 in a 1-0 win over No. 6 Suffolk Community College. He has also accumulated double-digit strikeouts in four of his nine appearances this season.

Rookie of the Year - Elvis Torres, Fr, OF/UT, Queensborough
Torres has played in 29 of the Tigers' 34 games this year, and is hitting .293 with a home run and 16 RBIs. He leads the team with 23 walks and 24 stolen bases, and has not committed a single error in 20 chances for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 7, 2018) - On Monday night, No. 2 seed Queensborough Community College pulled off a thrilling 6-4 come-from-behind 11-inning win against top-seeded Bronx Community College in the 2018 CUNYAC/MCU Community College Baseball Championship at MCU Park.

In a contest where an earned run was not scored, the Tigers (22-12) rallied from a late four-run deficit to send the game into extra innings.

Clinched! Going to the CUNYAC Championship Game!

With a 7-2 victory over Kingsborough CC yesterday, the Queensborough Tigers baseball team has officially clinched their spot in the CUNYAC Championship Game, which will take place on Monday, May 7th at 7pm at MCU Park, home of New York Mets minor league affiliate, the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Nicholas DiLorenzo named CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season in Baseball. Nicholas played a large role for the Tigers in a four-game sweep of Monroe last week. Aside from hitting his region-leading eighth home run, he drove in nine RBIs, scored 10 runs, stole two bases and walked three times.

Nicholas DiLorenzo went off for a .400 batting clip in a four-game sweep of league foe BMCC last week. He also belted four home runs and drove in 10 RBIs, while adding five walks and five runs scored, in addition to a red-hot 2.163 OPS.

Ryan Sandberg Named NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Apr. 4, 2018) - After delivering an impressive 16-strikeout performance over the weekend, Queensborough Community College freshman pitcher Ryan Sandberg earned the nod as the NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday.

Sandberg, who received CUNYAC Rookie of the Week praise for his efforts, scattered seven hits, one earned run and a walk in a 7-2 victory over conference foe Bronx Community College on Saturday.

Through his first two starts, Sandberg boasts a 2-0 record with a team-leading 32 strikeouts. He has also allowed just four walks in his 16.0 innings pitched for the Tigers thus far.

Iacovetta sparked the Tigers' offense to a 4-1 record last week in their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach. He had a .438 batting average and .550 on-base percentage from the leadoff spot and added six RBIs and seven stolen bases.

CUNYAC Announces CC Baseball All-Stars

The CUNYAC and MCU are proud to announce the 2017 CC Baseball All-Stars. Kingsborough Community College’s Nathaniel Cruz was voted as the CUNYAC Player of the Year. Kingsborough sophomore, Alipio Tibercio, was named CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year. Maximo Garcia of BMCC was named Rookie of the Year, and Queensborough head coach Roger Mischel was named Coach of the Year.

Queensborough had a total of five all-stars each including Coach of the Year and the Sportsmanship Winner. Kingsborough had four all-stars including the Player of the Year and the Pitcher of the Year. Bronx CC and BMCC had three all-stars each, including for BMCC, the Rookie of the Year.

David Lim named Region XV Athlete of the Month for April

Sophomore David Lim continues to lead Queensborough baseball on the offensive end of the spectrum. Lim had a monster month of April as he has exploded with 19 RBI's, including 4 home runs, and a .400 batting average in 53 at-bats. The standout started the season as an effective pitcher and in April has brought a hot bat. David's standout game was against BMCC, where he knocked two home runs and drove in 4 RBI's on April 14. During the month, Lim also was honored as an NJCAA National Player of the Week.
