Welcome to Exceptional Theatre Training

At Queensborough, we build character and empower students to be leaders. We prepare students for transfer into competitive B.A. and  B.F.A. degree programs; careers in theatre; or alternative study in complementary majors such as Education, Law, Business, Health Services, Journalism, among others.

We are the only community college in New York State, and one of only eight community colleges in the nation, to offer a National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) accredited Associate in Science (A.S.) Degree in Theatre. When you complete your degree at Queensborough, the first 2 years of a traditional 4-year college program will be complete, at a fraction of the cost.

We hope our website answers many of your questions. For more information, or a personal introduction, please contact Professor Arthur Adair at AAdair@qcc.cuny.edu

Experiential Learning

Our students learn by “doing."

In the classroom, with distinguished faculty members active in professional theatre.

In the theatre, working on 4 fully-staged productions a year, 2 each semester, in our 875-seat, Broadway-style, grand proscenium theater and Off-Broadway-style, black box theater. Each production fully supported by our costume shop, scene shop, intelligent lighting system, and digital audio-visual design lab.

On campus, through co-curricular and professional development workshops with guest artists, and opportunities to engage 50+ Student Clubs, including the student run, Drama Society.

In the community, attending free Broadway and Off-Broadway productions every semester.

In the region, participating in the Regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) where students travel to the week-long festival to showcase work, investigate B.A. and B.F.A. transfer options, and establish industry relationships.

Academic Excellence

Queensborough offers a more personable, individualized, and intimate education experience with smaller class sizes taught by professors who tend to focus completely on teaching rather than on research and publication like at many four-year institutions.

Our classes are taught by professors, not teaching assistants.
