ED-100: Introduction to Paraeducation

Introduction to Paraeducation will address many important topics of concern to in-service paraprofessionals and to individuals interested in careers in paraeducation. Among the many topics addressed by the course are:

• Issues in paraprofessionals’ education and credentialing
• The role of paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Core competencies for paraprofessionals
• Structure and functioning of schools
• Working with special needs children
• Health and safety

Introduction to Paraeducation is a 4 credit course that will be offered in the Fall 2004 on Monday from 5:00-6:40 p.m. and on Wednesday from 4:00-5:40 p.m.
