7 points to keep in mind and follow that can save you much aggravation and needless expense

 

1.  PLAN AHEAD - Do pre-plan.

Do NOT pre-pay directly to funeral director.

 

2.  SHOP AROUND - do comparison-shopping.

Obtain general price list.

Required by FTC regulations/ NYS Dept. Of Health.

 

3.  FIND A FUNERAL DIRECTOR YOU CAN TRUST.

Use the same director anytime and anyplace you need services.

 

4.  MEET THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR AT YOUR HOME.

More secure and comfortable surrounding

Have relatives and friends present.

 

5.  LEARN WHO OWNS THE FUNERAL HOME.

See certificate of ownership-not funeral director's license.

Avoid franchise establishments - sales commissions.

Avoid the large corporations - fixed rates.

 

6.  BE AWARE OF TOTAL COSTS AS YOU PROCEED.

Keep checking total as you proceed through the arrangements.

 

7.  SELECT THE CASKET LAST.

Remain in your budget.

Avoid disreputable companies.

Make sure you get what you pay for.
