What We Do In The Writing Center:

All students at Suffolk Community College are welcome to work on and/or discuss any type of writing project in the Writing Center. Some specific areas of assistance include:

· Working with you to help generate ideas for your writing

· Discussing strategies for organization, development, and final review of your work

· Access to Gateway and Mac computers, MS Word, and the Internet

· Access to a variety of handouts covering various grammatical and documentation concerns

· Helping with writing projects outside of school such as resumes

All You Do:

· Walk in any time during Writing Center hours and sign in. Often there is no waiting to see a tutor. (Thirty-minute appointments are available if you do not want to risk a wait. Please call ahead for appointments.)

· Work alone or with a tutor

· Actively discuss your writing if you choose to work with a tutor

· Realize that your piece of writing and the ideas that make up your writing are valuable no matter where you are in the writing process. We can work with you to develop your writing to its fullest potential.

· Bring a zip disc for the Mac computers or a regular disc for the Gateways. (Regular discs are available for $1.00) You can type your papers, print them out, and discuss them with tutors all in the same place.

· Make the Writing Center your habit for the semester! Come and see us every week.
