Children's Book Club and Performance Series

The Children's Book Club and Performance Series is the perfect way to open the hearts and minds of children, by encouraging them to seek further, explore more, and engage themselves in the world of literature and live theatre. We believe, that it's never too early to jumpstart a child's imagination, and that if presented with stories that fascinate them, children can't help but discover the pleasures of reading. We also know, that theatre reinforces the importance of reading. A live production has the ability to jump a story off the page and bring it to life. In this digital era in which we live, young people have much to learn from the interactions that take place between the characters in the books they read, and on the stage.

Our weekday offerings were created as a way to enhance in-school literary and curriculum programs, while providing cultural and artistic opportunities to elementary and middle school students for whom a lack of arts programming is evident. These weekday shows make great field trips for school groups. And our weekends just got better!

Pinkalicious, the Musical at QPAC

Pinkalicious loves all things pink. From fairy dresses to cotton candy to bubblegum. Most importantly she loves eating pink cupcakes. Her mother and father warn her not to eat too many, but she can't help herself. They're just too good! But when Pinkalicious eats one too many, she turns pink herself! What will she do? Ultimately she learns that being yourself is the most important thing!

The award-winning Paperbag Players come to QPAC

The Paper Bag Players, That's Quite Absurd! will have you laughing, singing, dancing--and sitting on the edge of your seat! This brand new show is packed with stories, songs, freewheeling dances, painting, audience participation, paper bag costumes and scenery -- and lots of adventure! It's a funny, friendly, and thrilling hour of theater -- perfect for children ages 3 through 8, and their adult companions!

The opening number, Welcome to Friendly, invites our audience into a fanciful town buzzing with charming characters, from an elephant riding a scooter to a giraffe in a car. A walking bell reminds the town--and audience--it's time to dance! The friendly theme continues with That's Quite Absurd! in which a girl and a bird meet on a park bench and become fast friends. The bird happily teaches his new friend how to fly. In Sing To Me, a giant seed only grows when it hears a special song. Rise and Shine follows the sun as he wakes up and prepares for work, punching in as the moon punches out. A Girl Named Sam uses paper, ink, and paint to tell the story of a young girl who goes fishing and gets more than she bargained for. Lots of more surprises lie in wait in the hilarious and whimsical world of The Paper Bag Players, That's Quite Absurd!

The Paper Bag Players, That's Quite Absurd! was created by Ted Brackett, Kevin Richard Woodall, and musical director John Stone.
