Prof. Jeff Hest is a veteran composer, arranger, conductor, producer, and wind player specializing in the theory, performance, and arrangement of Jazz.
In his 10 years as A&R Rep and VP of a record label, he produced over 70 albums (including the first Quadrophonic LP's) garnering 2 Grammy nominations. He has composed over 1000 TV/Radio Jingles and won 2 Clio Awards in the process. He has arranged and orchestrated scores for several Broadway Shows as well as a few Movie Scores, one of which earned him a Golden Globe Award.
During his career, he has served as a conductor, arranger, and/or instrumentalist for a number of artists including Frank Sinatra, Vanessa Williams, Vic Damone and Dianne Carol, Bette Midler, Liza Minelli, Marilyn Michaels, Neil Sedaka, the Four Tops, and Ari Hest.
He was granted a Doctoral Equivalency by CUNY for lifetime achievements as a Professional Musician and earned his MA in Music Theory and Composition from Queens College, CUNY. Jeff studied with Leo Kraft, Felix Salzer, Dick Hyman, Clark Terry, and Fritz Jahoda.
He has been bringing his considerable talents and experience into QCC classrooms for 14 years.
