Alicia Sinclair has been in the fields of health and nutrition education for over fifteen years. She is a health educator with specialties in overweight and obesity as well as nutrition education. Her clinical experience includes work at St. Luke’s Obesity Research Center in New York City. There, she treated patients with binge eating disorder. As a consultant, Dr. Sinclair has worked for several organizations including Shape Up New York, a free family fitness program where she taught participants strategies for healthier eating. She holds a bachelor’s of science in education from the University of Maine, a master’s in psychology from New York University, and a doctorate in health and behavior studies from Columbia University. Dr. Sinclair is the co-author of The Fundamentals of Nutrition and Health, Nutrition Today and Nutrition: Apples to Zinc.  She conducts workshops and presentations as well as roundtable discussions on topics such as: prevention and treatment of overweight/obesity, strategies for healthy and cost-effective food shopping, and techniques for effective health coaching. Additionally, Dr. Sinclair has experience teaching food safety and sanitation at The Natural Gourmet Institute as well as other local culinary schools. Currently, Dr. Sinclair teaches various health science and nutrition courses for Rutgers University in addition to the City University of New York.
