Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

Specific duties:  A strong commitment to teaching a broad range of traditional courses in mechanical engineering technology. Courses taught  include Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Metallurgy, Machine Design, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Manufacturing Methods, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCad), Computer Numerical Control and other Computer Applications.

Highly desirable candidates will also be able to teach select courses from Computerized Architecture and Industrial Design Curriculum, such as Structural Drafting, HVAC and Piping Systems.

Additional duties include advising students, supervising student clubs, participating in college and department committee work, recruitment, faculty development activities, laboratory development, and undergraduate research and grants.  Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

The Engineering Technology Department maintains many modern laboratory rooms, all of which contain state-of-the-art, well maintained equipment.  Furthermore, all of the laboratory computer systems have been integrated with a state-of-the-art lecture presentation system (NETOP School) which enables the instructor to broadcast material to every computer screen, monitor each workstation, and control each individual computer system.  SmartBoard projection systems are also included in all laboratories.  Additionally, a faculty development laboratory is maintained for faculty research and course development.

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering and teaching experience are required; Master's degree in Engineering with experience teaching in a diverse community college setting and industry experience are preferred. 


Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
