Queensborough Community College offers a unique opportunity for nurse educators or nurses with a strong clinical background, who are looking to share their knowledge and experience, to join a distinguished and dynamic faculty in this richly, diverse environment. The Nursing Program is integrated into the college setting and provides a strong foundation in general education, biological sciences, and social sciences as well as nursing science. The program is concept based and infused with technology and informatics. Resources include a simulation lab, a large computer Resource Center and a community lab with Telehealth. Service learning opportunities are offered across the curriculum.
Students are prepared for entry into practice, but encouraged to pursue their baccalaureate degree. To this end, Queensborough has a unique Dual/Joint Program with Hunter College, which leads to Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Queensborough offers many other opportunities for students to pursue their bachelor's degree; and faculty and advisors actively assist students to develop a program for further study.
Performs teaching in the classroom and clinical setting; shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions; mentors and advises students; and works with the department in the evaluation, implementation and assessment of courses and pedagogy. Continued scholarly activities and publications are required for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate may be required to teach some evening or night courses.
Specifically, teach courses in nursing across the life span, in both clinical and community-based agencies.
Licensure as a registered Professional Nurse in New York State and an earned Master's degree in Nursing, or an appropriate doctoral degree, with strong, current, clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing, are required. Pediatric experience is a plus. Must be in compliance with New York State and National Accrediting Agency guidelines for Nursing Faculty. Must have the ability to cooperate with others, for the good of the institution. Must be comfortable working with a culturally diverse population.
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
