General Duties:

Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework. 

-Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment

-Determines equipment requirements, prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisitions

-Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff

-Manages set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories

-Maintains safety and hygiene standards

-Documents laboratory activities

-Performs related duties as assigned. 

Campus Specific Information:

Work with Faculty and Guest Directors and Designers in building and realizing designs for student productions on time and on budget.  Schedule and run production meetings.  Oversee and monitor activities in all builds, installations, technical rehearsals, performances and strikes.  Develop and maintain production budgets and bid scenery.  Generate and maintain inventory lists.  Generate purchase requests in CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft) system.  Serve as or hire Master Electrician.  Hire and supervise over-hire for productions.  Night/weekend rehearsals, performances, and strikes are required.  Oversee technical operations of Black Box Theatre and collaborate with Technical Director of proscenium house.  Oversee Theatre shop.  Support student involvement in KCACTF (The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival).  Opportunity to teach stagecraft as an adjunct may be available.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience.  Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate's degree may be substituted for two years' experience and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years' experience.  This position may also require the ability to supervise others. 

Other Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

-MFA in Theatre

-Extensive professional experience in technical theatre, preferably at college level

-Demonstrated artistic skill and technical experience in design/construction, scene painting, and technology applications (e.g. VectorWorks) relating to the area of technical theatre

-Experience in teaching and supervising diverse populations

-Ability to assist in Production Management
